Speakers: >Bruce Becker speaking about the emission-free Hotel Marcel's efforts to support the guest experience in e-mobility >Out of Spec Dave will share his experiences charging his EVs at various public charging stations, sometimes across long distances, to map the current state of publicly-available EVSE and how the customer experience can be improved to accelerate EV adoption. >Barry Kresch will deliver an update on what to expect from federal and state EV incentive programs for the remainder of 2023 and into 2024. >United Illuminating will discuss the EV charging incentive program and how EVs and the grid will co-evolve. >Paul Braren will recount his excellent adventure of decarbonizing his home using all the available programs for solar, weatherization, EVs, battery storage, outlining all the left-turns he encountered and how to overcome the points of friction along the way. >Marc Scully of People's Action for Clean Energy (PACE) will outline how they work with municipalities to model their energy usage, develop going-forward energy plans, and take action to reduce emissions. >Charles Rothenberger from Save the Sound will outline the benefits of the Advanced Clean Car II regulations, which DEEP now has in public comment. >Daphne Dixon from Live Green CT, will discuss how zoning regulations can support EV adoption.
The Westport Police will bring their Tesla Electric Patrol car. A variety of other cars of interest will be displayed.

Description: Christina McPike and Kate Doherty talk about an adaptive reuse project—The Tyler—as an example of the collaborative process between a developer and Passive House Designer. They will discuss what it took to give this school a new life as 55+ housing while also getting it to Passive House level efficiency. The speakers will go through some of the intricacies of the EnerPHit program compared to new construction Passive House and some challenges they faced on this project with words of wisdom to other developers taking the leap into Passive House.

Join us for activities for kids, music, food trucks, and fun, engaging exhibits! Blasius Kia, our presenting sponsor, will bring a 2023 KIA NIRO EV and a 2023 KIA EV6! The fair will feature a variety of electric vehicles. Chatfield’s True Value Hardware and Stihl will showcase electrical lawn equipment. ELC Energy Efficiency Solutions will show solar options, EV chargers, and energy-efficient lighting. People can learn about making use of clean energy, reducing energy use and carbon footprint, reducing waste, reducing wasted food, recycling more effectively, and how to live more sustainably across 12 different categories of sustainability. The fair will kick off a community energy campaign that includes home energy audits, heat pumps, solarization, home battery storage systems, EV chargers, and information on financial incentives and rebates. Sustainable Southbury exhibits include our popular recycling tent featuring recycling “Dos” and “Don’ts”, alternative products to single-use plastics, and information on the REFUSE TO USE and REFILL NOT LANDFILL campaigns. There will also be exhibits on ways to reduce wasted food and food scrap recycling, our Safe Street Initiative, and the community energy campaign. Other exhibitors will feature Arts & Culture events, local businesses, and environmental conservation groups.
