House Tours Most Energy Efficient House in North America
While PACE has put many award-winning homes this very traditional, farmhouse-style home in South Glastonbury has won three different awards:
• The 2014 Connecticut Zero Energy Challenge,
• The 2015 RESNET Cross-Border Challenge and
• The 2015 Housing Innovations Award (awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy)
Moreover, in the CT Zero Energy Challenge, this house won first place in three different categories: lowest overall HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Index, Lowest HERS without renewables and lowest annual operating costs.
As you can imagine, this house pretty much has it all: a high-performance building envelope, geothermal heating and cooling, a solar photovoltaic (PV) array, an energy recovery ventilator (ERV), efficient appliances and many more features.
