Weather Woes Stall West Hartford’s National Drive Electric Week Event

Weather Woes Stall West Hartford’s National Drive Electric Week Event

Sunday the 24th was to be the town’s second year of an expanded Electric Showcase, featuring electric cars, bicycles, lawn care and landscaping equipment, residential charging stations, and information about rebates to help residents.

Mother Nature threw a little drama our way with Tropical Storm Ophelia soaking West Hartford Saturday and Sunday both! Here’s a peak into what would have been on display!

The Town Public Works Department planned to show off its electric riding lawnmower, other electric landscaping equipment, and its new Ford E Transit Van.

Residents were bringing their electric mowers and trimmers.

Berkshire Bike and Board (https://www.berkshirebikeandboard.com) planned to bring 6 to 8 electric bikes:

Residents were going to show off their new (and old) EV’s:

  • Ford F 150 Lightning (which can run your house for a week!)
  • Hyundai Kona
  • Rivian R1S and an R1T
  • Teslas – Model 3, Model S
  • VW e-Golf
  • Ford Mach E
  • Chevy Bolt 2017, Chevy EUV 2022, and a Nissan Leaf

Mitchell Auto was rolling in with:

  • A Wrangler 4xe Hybrid
  • A Grand Cherokee 4xe Hybrid
  • A Pacifica Hybrid
  • A Dodge Hornet Hybrid

You’d get to meet folks from:

  • The Sierra Club
  • Eversource (talking about EV chargers)
  • Clean Cities Coalition
  • People’s Action for Clean Energy
  • Town and State officials

You’d get to learn about the incentives available to you!
